Fargo, a 1996 Coen Brothers film, starred Billy Bob Thornton (as Molly Solverson), Martin Freeman (as Bob Odenkirk) and Bob Odenkirk. Tolman was praised for her performance as Minnesota the policeman Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair stated it was clear that Tolman, "calmly" and "assuredly" was the star of the show. Critics' Choice Television Award, Best Supporting Actress (Movie/Miniseries) as well as Golden Globe awards were given in recognition of her role.
